Description

This is what is called an ebó (in Brazilian Portuguese, despacho from the very verb to dispatch), or offerings to ancient Vodun African gods (partly Nigeria and Benin), that usually consists of brandy, rooster, popcorn, cigars, sometimes cigarettes and candles with the color corresponding to each god. These ebós are usually left for the gods at crossroads, but churchyards, quarries and waterfalls are usually welcome too (depending on the entity you're sending these things to). The offerings like this are usually called macumba by uninformed Brazilians. No animals were harmed in the making of this ebó. The offering seen here is unique in that the chicken is alive, probably gently talked into sitting in that bowl for brooding. Layers are organized by groups for ease of manipulation. From Photoshop CS3. Additional layer from ~valhalla-vania's brushes (preview only).
